Đảng Dân chủ đã yêu cầu luật sư riêng của tổng thống phải nộp một số hồ sơ, bước tiếp theo của một nỗ lực có thể khiến Donald Trump phải rời khỏi Nhà Trắng.

Rudy Giuliani từng thừa nhận có yêu cầu các quan chức Ukraine điều tra cáo buộc tham nhũng không căn cứ về đối thủ Joe Biden của đảng Dân chủ.

Các nhà lập pháp đã gửi trát đòi Giuliani phải nộp hồ sơ dính líu đến nhưng liên lạc giữa ông và các quan chức Ukraine.

Yêu cầu này là một phần của thủ tục luận tội ông Trump, được thúc đẩy bởi khiếu nại của một người tố giác.

Người tố giác, được cho là một nhân viên CIA, tiết lộ mối quan ngại của một số quan chức Nhà Trắng rằng ông Trump đã tìm cách gây áp lực với một nhà lãnh đạo nước ngoài để điều tra đối thủ chính trị đảng Dân chủ của mình.

Một bản sao của cuộc gọi điện giữa ông Trump và Tổng thống Volodymyr Zelensky, được công bố tuần trước cho thấy ông Trump đã thúc giục ông Zelensky điều tra các cáo buộc vô căn cứ về con trai ông Biden, ứng cử viên hàng đầu của đảng Dân chủ trong cuộc chạy đua vào Nhà Trắng năm 2020 .

Hôm thứ Hai, người ta được biết Bộ trưởng Ngoại giao Hoa Kỳ, Mike Pompeo, đã lắng nghe cuộc gọi, hiện đang là trung tâm của một cuộc điều tra luận tội ông Trump. Ông Pompeo tuần trước bị đảng Dân chủ tại Hạ viện gửi trát đòi hầu tòa liên quan đến cuộc gọi này.

Trong một diễn biến khác hôm thứ Hai, có tin ông Trump đã thúc đẩy một nhà lãnh đạo nước ngoài khác nhờ giúp đỡ liên quan đến tình hình chính trị của ông trong nước. Chính phủ Úc xác nhận rằng ông Trump đã yêu cầu Thủ tướng Scott Morrison giúp đỡ trợ lý tổng chưởng lý Hoa Kỳ, Bill Barr, với cuộc điều tra liên quan đến điều tra sự dính líu của Nga vào bầu cử Mỹ năm 2016, phủ bóng lên hai năm đầu cầm quyền của ông.

Nhà Trắng được cho là đã hạn chế quyền truy cập vào bản ghi chép cuộc gọi này trong vòng nhóm nhỏ các trợ lý của tổng thống - như đã làm với bản ghi chép cuộc gọi với Ukraine đang gây tranh cãi.
