Thủ lãnh Black Lives Matter Shaun King nói rằng:Tất cả các tượng của Chúa Jesus phải bị kéo sập xuống vì nó tượng trưng cho quyền lực tối cao của người da trắng.

Nhà văn và nhà hoạt động Shaun King đã tuyên bố hôm thứ Hai rằng ông ủng hộ việc phá hủy các bức tượng mô tả một Jesus da trắng.

King, một thủ lãnh của Black Lives Matter đã tweet lời nhận xét của mình vào thứ Hai. Ông lưu ý rằng các nhà sử học tin rằng Chúa Giêsu có thể là người thường sống ở Trung Đông trong thời gian của ông, chứ không phải là người đàn ông da trắng như thường được miêu tả trong các biểu tượng của Kitô giáo.

Ông cũng nhận xét rằng các cửa sổ kính màu và các hình ảnh khác về một Jesus damtrắng, Đức bà Maria da trắng và "những người bạn da trắng" của Chúa Jesus và Đức Bà Maria (ý nói các thánh tông đồ) phải bị phá hủy. King khẳng định chúng là "tuyên truyền phân biệt chủng tộc" và "là một hình thức tối cao của quyền lực trắng".
