Communist Party USA, Other Marxist Groups, to Join ‘No Kings’ Protests

Several Marxist groups are planning to participate in No Kings rallies on Oct. 18 that aim to oppose President Donald Trump’s administration and its policies.
More than 2,700 “No Kings Day” protests, rallies, and marches are expected around the United States, in small towns and large cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City.

The protests’ official sponsors, or “partners,” include the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Campaign, MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, and an array of labor unions, according to the website.

Meanwhile, the event’s webpage for New York City states that several Marxist organizations are among its partners, including the Communist Party USA, Young Communist League, Freedom Socialist Party, and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

No Kings spokesperson Eunic Epstein-Ortiz told The Epoch Times that the Communist Party USA is participating only in a New York event and “is not a host of any other event.”

No Kings does not control which organizations participate locally, so “it’s going to be different per city,” she said.


The Communist Party’s participation in New York is “not a reflection of ... the national arm” of No Kings protests, Epstein-Ortiz said.

Epstein-Ortiz said protesters will be standing up to Trump, whom she described as “a fascist dictator.”

The website states that event organizers are committed to “nonviolent action” and expect “all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.”

“Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events,” the website states.

Indivisible, a nonprofit coalition of political activist groups, is coordinating the protests.

“Defeating a multi-decade right-wing takeover of American government ain’t easy,” Indivisible’s website states.

The self-described grassroots movement, founded by political activists Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, aims to elect progressive leaders and undo Trump’s agenda.

Organizers estimate 5 million people attended the first No Kings Day on June 14, and say that figure is likely to be surpassed on Oct. 18.

When a reporter questioned Trump about the protests’ “No Kings” label in June, the president said, “I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get things approved.”

Trevor Loudon, an anti-communist expert on radical politics and author of several books, said many of the left-leaning individuals involved in No Kings overlap with more mainstream Democratic Party and various community and church groups, “but the core of this is the hardcore communist groups.”

He told The Epoch Times that the No Kings protests aim to ratchet up pressure on Trump by labeling him a “dictator” or “fascist,” as its leaders build an anti-fascist alliance ahead of the 2026 congressional elections.

Loudon said communists label all their opposition as fascist to justify using “any means necessary, including force, to take down a fascist.”

This doesn’t mean that every No Kings participant is aware of the communist influence over the movement, he said.

Loudon said the Democratic Socialists of America, one of the largest Marxist organizations that will be participating Oct. 18, has built ties to communist regimes in Cuba and China and sends delegations there.

DSA is also involved in Venezuela and has become an affiliate member of the São Paolo Forum, a group set up years ago by then-Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to “take back Latin American socialism,” he noted.

Loudon said Indivisible, which is coordinating the protests, was founded by “hardcore” progressive activists and functions like a franchise-based organization with chapters throughout the country.

The group, he said, “tries to draw on a broad coalition of Democrats, even some disaffected Republicans, greens, black activists, church activists.”

The Epoch Times reached out to Indivisible for comment. No reply was received by publication time.
