Old  Default Than niên Việt bị Singapore phạt nặng vì mang 280.000 USD không khai báo
Mới đây an ninh hàng không Singapore đã phát hiện 1 thanh niên Việt mang theo lượng tiền rất lớn nhập cảnh mà không khai báo. Theo đó số tiền này vào khoảng 280 nghìn USD là trái với qui định của Singapore. Dưới đây là những thông tin cụ thể hơn về vụ việc. Nguyen Thanh Thuy mang số tiền cao gấp 19 lần mức tối đa không cần khai báo khi nhập cảnh nhưng không giải thích được lý do.

Nguyen Thanh Thuy, người Việt Nam, hôm qua nhận án phạt 8.000 đôla Singapore (khoảng 5.900 USD) vì mang lượng tiền mặt vượt quá mức tối đa không cần khai báo khi nhập cảnh vào Singapore, Strait Times đưa tin.

Thuy bị phát hiện mang theo 380.000 đôla Singapore (khoảng 280.000 USD) tiền mặt trong hành lý khi nhập cảnh tại sân bay Changi hôm 30/1/2018.

Thanh niên 25 tuổi làm nghề bán điện thoại không thể giải thích về lý do mang theo số tiền lớn như vậy. Thuy bị buộc tội vi phạm Đạo luật Tham nhũng, Buôn lậu chất cấm và Các tội danh nghiêm trọng của Singapore, trong đó quy định số tiền tối đa có thể mang vào nước này mà không cần khai báo là 20.000 đôla Singapore.

Cảnh sát cho biết khoản tiền thuộc về chủ lao động của Thuy, người đề nghị anh ta mua điện thoại di động từ một nhà cung cấp tại Singapore để gửi về Việt Nam. Hồ sơ tòa án cho biết Thuy đang làm việc cho một cửa hàng tại TP HCM.

Violet Netto, luật sư của Thuy, nói rằng thân chủ của bà "hối hận sâu sắc về sự dại dột, thiếu suy nghĩ khi phạm tội và đáng lẽ nên tuân thủ luật pháp Singapore". Bà nói thêm rằng Thuy đã sống tại Singapore vài năm mà chưa từng phạm pháp, đang cố gắng kiếm tiền một cách chân chính và gửi phần lớn thu nhập về cho gia đình gặp khó khăn tại Việt Nam.

Bà Netto đề nghị tòa phạt Thuy mức tiền thấp hơn nhưng không được chấp thuận. Luật sư cũng yêu cầu nhà chức trách trả lại số tiền mặt bị phát hiện tại sân bay cho thân chủ. Thẩm phán chấp nhận yêu cầu, cho rằng số tiền này "nên được đưa cho người sở hữu hợp pháp".
