Tối 12-10, cô Nina Phạm đã được truyền huyết thanh điều chế từ BS Mỹ Kent Brantly (nhiễm Ebola tại Liberia và đã được chữa khỏi tại Mỹ).

Giám đốc Trung tâm Kiểm soát và phòng ngừa dịch bệnh khen nữ y tá Nina Phạm là người dũng cảm.

Báo USA Today (Mỹ) ngày 13-10 (giờ địa phương) đưa tin bệnh nhân đầu tiên nhiễm Ebola ở Mỹ là cô y tá người Mỹ gốc Việt tên Nina Phạm 26 tuổi.

Cô đã nhiễm Ebola trong lúc chăm sóc bệnh nhân Thomas Eric Duncan, người Liberia tại BV Hội thánh Trưởng lão bang Texas ở Dallas. Duncan nhiễm Ebola ở Liberia và tử vong ở Mỹ hôm 8-10.

Giám đốc Trung tâm Kiểm soát và phòng ngừa dịch bệnh (CDC) Thomas Frieden cho biết cô Nina Phạm đã nhiều lần tiếp xúc với bệnh nhân Duncan khi anh này đến khám bệnh lần thứ hai và nhập viện hôm 28-9. Vẫn chưa rõ Nina Phạm nhiễm như thế nào.

Hiện bệnh nhân Nina Phạm đã được cách ly và điều trị tại BV Hội thánh Trưởng lão bang Texas. Cô sống trong căn hộ phía bắc Dallas với con chó cảnh Bentley. Con chó này cũng đã bị cách ly.

Tối 12-10, cô Nina Phạm đã được truyền huyết thanh điều chế từ BS Mỹ Kent Brantly (nhiễm Ebola tại Liberia và đã được chữa khỏi tại Mỹ).

Theo báo New York Times (Mỹ), Nina Phạm là con của một đôi vợ chồng Việt Nam sang Mỹ định cư năm 1975. Cô sinh ra và lớn lên tại làng Bentley ở Fort Worth (bang Texas).

Cô tốt nghiệp bằng cử nhân điều dưỡng tại ĐH Công giáo bang Texas tại Fort Worth năm 2010, sau đó được Hội đồng Điều dưỡng bang Texas cấp giấy phép hành nghề y tá.

Ngày 1-8 vừa qua, cô nhận được chứng chỉ chăm sóc đặc biệt của Hiệp hội Y tá chăm sóc đặc biệt Mỹ.

Y tá chăm sóc đặc biệt phụ trách chăm sóc bệnh nhân có các vấn đề đe dọa tính mạng, dễ tổn thương. Để nhận được chứng chỉ này, y tá phải có tối thiểu 44 tuần chăm sóc trực tiếp một bệnh nhân ốm nặng.

Cô Jennifer Joseph, đồng nghiệp của bệnh nhân Nina Phạm, nhận xét cô là một y tá rất cẩn thận và tận tâm. Cô nói: “Khi nghĩ về bệnh nhân, Phạm thường tự hỏi: Tôi sẽ làm gì nếu đây là cha mẹ hay ông bà của tôi?”.

Báo Người Việt (Mỹ) ngày 13-10 dẫn lời linh mục Michael Hoàng Quý ở giáo xứ Đức Mẹ Fatima tại Fort Worth cho biết: “Khi giáo xứ nhận được tin, mọi người đã cảm thông cho gia đình nhưng nhiều người cũng sợ vì trong những ngày cuối tuần qua có tiếp xúc với bà Ngọc - mẹ cô Nina Phạm. Khi bà Ngọc nói chưa gặp con gái từ hồi tháng 8 đến giờ, mọi người mới bớt lo lắng”.

Linh mục nhận xét Nina Phạm là người hiền lành, dễ thương, năng động và hòa đồng.

Ông Thomas Hà là giáo dân trong họ đạo cho biết bà Ngọc là người gọi cho hội đoàn báo tin con gái nhiễm Ebola. Ông nói gia đình Nina Phạm rất đau buồn và không muốn tiếp báo giới. Ông gọi Nina Phạm là nữ anh hùng của cộng đồng người Việt tại Fort Worth.

Báo The Dallas Morning News (Mỹ) dẫn lời cha xứ Jim Khoi cho biết cô Nina Phạm vẫn giữ tâm trạng tốt và sử dụng mạng điện thoại Skype để trò chuyện với mẹ. Tại thánh lễ tối 13-10, cha đã mời gọi mọi người cầu nguyện cho cô.

Theo Reuters, các chuyên gia pháp lý nhận định bệnh nhân Nina Phạm sẽ được bồi thường nếu BV Hội thánh Trưởng lão bang Texas có mua bảo hiểm cho nhân viên. Luật sư Jay Harvey ở Texas cho biết nếu bệnh viện không mua bảo hiểm, Nina Phạm có quyền kiện đòi bồi thường. Để thắng kiện, cô phải chứng minh bệnh viện đã tắc trách vì không huấn luyện y tế đầy đủ cho cô.

70 nhân viên BV Hội thánh Trưởng lão bang Texas ở TP Dallas đã chăm sóc bệnh nhân Thomas Eric Duncan, trong đó có cô Nina Phạm.

Nina Phạm là người dũng cảm đã dám đặt bản thân vào tình thế nguy hiểm để làm việc tốt cho xã hội.
