WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) — Tổng Thống Donald Trump hôm Chủ Nhật, 29 Tháng Chín, cảnh cáo rằng tiến tŕnh luận tội ông hiện do phía đảng Dân Chủ tiến hành, cũng như các hành động nhằm giải nhiệm ông, sẽ bị coi là hành vi “phản quốc” (treason) và có thể dẫn tới “nội chiến”.

Lời cảnh cáo của ông Trump được đưa ra qua h́nh thức “tweet lại” (re-tweet) lời phát biểu của một mục sư bảo thủ nói rằng việc giải nhiệm ông sẽ gây ra “sự rạn nứt cũng giống như nội chiến” tại Mỹ.

Dân Biểu Adam Kinzinger, thuộc đảng Cộng Ḥa ở Illinois, cũng là một trung tá Không Quân trong Vệ Binh Quốc Gia Mỹ, đại diện một khu vực ở Illinois nơi Tổng Thống Trump từng chiến thắng năm 2016, gửi tweet ra nói rằng: “Tôi đă đến nhiều quốc gia bị tàn phá do nội chiến… Tôi không thể nào tưởng tượng rằng một phát biểu như vậy lại được một Tổng Thống Mỹ lập lại. Điều này thật quá mức ghê tởm (beyond repugnant).”

Sang đến ngày Thứ Hai, Tổng Thống Donald Trump tiếp tục tấn công thành phần chống đối ông bằng cách đe dọa rằng phải bắt giam những người tiến hành điều tra ông trong thủ tục luận tội và truy tố họ về tội phản quốc, và đe dọa sẽ có nội chiến.

Hiện nay, các kẻ thù hàng đầu của Tổng Thống Trump, nếu căn cứ theo nội dung các bản tweet ông gửi ra, là kẻ cáo giác ông khiến đưa đến cuộc điều tra chính thức của Hạ Viện, cũng như người đứng đầu nỗ lực điều tra, Chủ Tịch Ủy Ban T́nh Báo Hạ Viện, Dân Biểu Adam Schiff (Dân Chủ, California).

“Có nên bị bắt về Tội Phản Quốc?” (Arrest for Treason?) ông Trump gởi bản tweet với câu hỏi như vậy vào sáng ngày Thứ Hai, đưa ra đe dọa rằng các kẻ chống ông phải bị điều tra, dù rằng họ thi hành nhiệm vụ giám sát như đă nêu ra trong hiến pháp và theo luật lệ.

Tuy nhiên, chống đối hay bất đồng ư kiến với tổng thống không là tội phản quốc ở Mỹ.

Hiến Pháp Mỹ cũng như luật liên bang Mỹ có định nghĩa rất chặt chẽ về thế nào là tội phản quốc, theo đó nói rằng những kẻ nào gây chiến tranh chống lại nước Mỹ hay có hành vi đồng lơa, trợ giúp kẻ thù của nước Mỹ, mới bị coi là phạm tội này.

Vấn đề “tội phản quốc” được Tổng Thống Trump đưa ra sau khi có lời phát biểu của Mục Sư Robert Jeffress thuộc nhà thờ First Baptist Dallas trong chương tŕnh “Fox & Friends Weekend” hôm Chủ Nhật, rằng “nếu phía Dân Chủ thành công trong việc giải nhiệm tổng thống, th́ điều này sẽ gây ra sự rạn nứt cũng giống như nội chiến và đất nước sẽ không bao giờ yên lành.”

Vài giờ sau đó, Tổng Thống gửi tweet ra về phát biểu này.

Trump Pressured Australian Leader To Assist DOJ In Investigating Mueller Probe: Report

The president tried to get Scott Morrison to help Attorney General William Barr investigate the Mueller investigation's origins, according to The New York Times.

President Donald Trump tried to pressure the Australian prime minister to help Attorney General William Barr investigate the origins of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, according to a New York Times report.

Trump initiated the call with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in recent weeks to request the country’s help as the Justice Department reviewed Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in U.S. elections, two U.S. officials with knowledge of the call told the Times.

A Justice Department official confirmed to NBC that Trump asked Morrison for help in a call.
