Tổng Thống Donald Trump đáng bị truy tố tội cản trở công lư sau khi hơn 370 cựu công tố viên liên bang đă kư vào một thư ngỏ mong muốn, bởi lư do điều này không xảy ra truy tố ông Donald Trump chỉ v́ ông là tổng thống Mỹ.

Các cựu công tố viên này từng làm việc trong Bộ Tư Pháp Mỹ, phục vụ dưới thời chính phủ thuộc đảng Dân Chủ cũng như Cộng Ḥa.

Bức thư được tổ chức Protect Democracy công bố hôm Thứ Hai, 6 Tháng Năm. Đây là một tổ chức được thành lập khoảng 2 năm trước đây và có thái độ chỉ trích chính phủ Trump.

Các cựu công tố viên nói rằng, bản báo cáo của Điều Tra Viên Đặc Biệt Robert Mueller cho thấy “một số hành động theo đó đáp ứng đầy đủ các điều kiện để bị truy tố về tội cản trở công lư.”

Theo các cựu công tố viên, những hành động đó bao gồm việc ông Trump t́m cách giải nhiệm ông Mueller; ông Trump t́m cách giới hạn tầm điều tra về can dự của Nga; và các bản tweet cùng lời phát biểu trước công chúng của ông Trump nhằm ngăn cản không cho các phụ tá không hợp tác với các điều tra viên.

“Trong hệ thống pháp lư của chúng ta, tất cả mọi người bị cáo buộc đều được coi là vô tội và trách nhiệm luôn ở phía chính phủ là phải chứng tỏ rơ ràng, không c̣n nghi ngờ ǵ, về hành vi phạm pháp,” theo bức thư.

“Tuy nhiên, nếu xem xét tất cả các chứng cớ này rồi sau đó nói rằng một công tố viên không thể chứng minh được là có tội cản trở công lư th́ đây là điều đi ngược lại sự suy luận và kinh nghiệm của chúng tôi,” các cựu công tố viên cho hay.

Ông Mueller xem xét gần một chục hành động của tổng thống để t́m hiểu xem có sự cản trở công lư hay không.

Ông cuối cùng không đưa ra kết luận nào về việc này, giải thích rằng đây là điều một phần dựa theo ư kiến của Bộ Tư Pháp hiện nay, rằng một tổng thống tại vị không thể bị truy tố.

Bộ Trưởng Tư Pháp William Barr và Thứ Trưởng Tư Pháp Rod Rosenstein sau đó nói rằng họ xem xét và thấy là các chứng cớ ông Mueller đưa ra không đủ mạnh để truy tố Tổng Thống Trump.

Ông Trump dùng quyết định này để nói rằng bản báo cáo cho thấy không có cản trở công lư. Tuy nhiên các cựu công tố viên nói rơ quan điểm của họ trong bức thư, rằng các chứng cớ có được cho thấy điều ngược lại. (V.Giang)
