Cục Quản lý dược phẩm và thực phẩm Mỹ (FDA) ngày 11.6 yêu cầu Hãng Johnson & Johnson (J&J) phải loại bỏ hàng triệu liều vắc xin ngừa Covid-19 được sản xuất ở Nhà máy Emergent BioSolutions ở TP.Baltimore (bang Maryland) vì không phù hợp sử dụng.
Theo AFP, đây cũng là nhà máy bị ngưng sản xuất hồi tháng 4 sau sự cố lẫn lộn giữa các nguyên liệu điều chế vắc xin J&J và AstraZeneca, buộc Mỹ phải hủy 15 triệu liều J&J.
Cả FDA lẫn J&J đều không tiết lộ chính xác số liều vắc xin bị hủy trong đợt mới nhất, nhưng theo nguồn tin của tờ The New York Times, con số này phải lên đến 60 triệu.

FDA vẫn chưa quyết định có cho phép nhà máy hoạt động lại hay không, trong khi 60 triệu liều AstraZeneca được sản xuất tại đây đang được kiểm tra chất lượng trước khi viện trợ nước ngoài.
Đến nay, toàn bộ vắc xin Covid-19 của J&J được phân phối tại Mỹ đều sản xuất ở Hà Lan.
