Cựu binh Mũ nồi xanh Mỹ Peter Rafael Dzibinski Debbins hồi tháng 11.2020 nhận tội cung cấp thông tin an ninh quốc gia cho tình báo Nga.
AFP ngày 15.5 dẫn cáo trạng cho biết bị cáo 46 tuổi sinh tại Mỹ bị tình báo Nga chiêu nạp vào năm 1996. Nga là quê mẹ của Debbins và ông nhiều lần đến nước này trước khi gia nhập lục quân Mỹ.Năm 1997, ông Debbins nhận mật danh từ tình báo Nga và ký vào biên bản tuyên bố rằng muốn phục vụ cho nước Nga. AFP on May 15 quoted the indictment as saying that the 46-year-old US-born defendant was recruited by Russian intelligence in 1996. Russia is Debbins' motherland and he visited the country many times before joining the US army. Mr. Debbins' last contact with Russian intelligence is believed to have been in 2011. Assistant Attorney General John Demers said Mr Debbins violated his oath as an Army officer, betrayed the special forces and compromised national security. Mr. Demers said the nearly 16-year sentence reflects the seriousness of the case.
