Theo mệnh lệnh ngày 23-4 của Quốc vương Campuchia, tướng Sum Pov bị thu hồi hàm tướng và bị loại khỏi Lực lượng Vũ trang Hoàng gia Campuchia.

Ông Neth Saroeun, người đứng đầu Cục Phòng chống buôn người của cảnh sát tỉnh Svay Rieng, xác nhận với tờ The Post rằng cựu thiếu tướng Sum Pov và 5 đồng phạm đã bị đưa ra tòa vào chiều 23-4. Ông Pov sẽ bị truy tố theo luật phòng chống Covid-19 của Campuchia.

Trước đó, ông Pov được cấp trên cấp phép đi lại từ thủ đô Phnom Penh tới các tỉnh từ ngày 1-4 đến 30-5. Tuy nhiên, ông ta đã lợi dụng giấy phép này để vận chuyển trái phép nhóm người Trung Quốc từ thủ đô Phnom Penh (nơi đang bị phong tỏa) đến tỉnh Svay Rieng.

Before that, Mr. Pov was granted a license to travel from Phnom Penh capital to other provinces from April 1-4 to May 30. However, he took advantage of this permit to illegally transport groups of Chinese people from the capital Phnom Penh (where it was being blocked) to Svay Rieng province.

King Norodom Sihamoni also expelled Deputy Chief of the Office of the National Police Commission, 2-star General Ung Chanthuok, from the police branch. This person partyed at home in Phnom Penh amid curfew over Covid-19.

As of April 23, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Cambodia was 8,848 (of which 8,301 cases were related to the incident of community infection on February 20) and 61 people died. The number of new infections on April 23 was 655.
