Crowd Cheers For President Trump And Boos Benjamin Netanyahu At Israel’s Hostage Square

It appears President Trump is loved more by Israelis than the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff addressed a large crowd outside of Israel’s Hostage Square to celebrate the peace deal President Trump was able to orchestrate between Hamas and Israel.
While addressing the crowd Witkoff mentioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but as soon as he mentioned his name the crowd booed loudly.
The opposite occurred when he mentioned President Trump’s name and the crowd roared loudly and chanted “We love Trump.”
BBC reported more on Witkoff’s speech and the crowd’s reaction:
People have been meeting here in Hostages Square every Saturday night for the past two years, and this feels like the climax of what’s become a movement to bring their loved ones home.
Ivanka Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were very much the star guests here. Witkoff and Kushner were both involved in drawing up the plan to end the war in Gaza.
When Witkoff gave credit to President Trump in his speech, he got chants of “thank you, Trump”. He tried to do the same for Prime Minister Netanyahu, three times, and all he got were boos from the crowd.
There is a strong feeling among the hostages’ families that Netanyahu has sabotaged peace deals before and it seems they haven’t forgiven him.
There are last-minute fears that this might all still unravel. And I think there are mixed feelings about the future, about whether or not the war will end, or whether it will come back in some form.
But one woman I spoke to today says she feels confident that this means life would return to normal in Israel, that they would be able to resume their lives as they had been.

The Times of Israel reported more on Witkoff’s speech:
US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff speaks to an adoring crowd at Hostages Square, thanking US President Donald Trump, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Arab and Muslim leaders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, hostage families and the families themselves for their role in securing the Gaza ceasefire-hostage deal.
As he prepares to speak, the crowd chants “Thank you, Witkoff.” It boos when he mentions Netanyahu, before chanting Trump’s name.
“I dreamed of this night for a long time. This is the most powerful sight,” he begins, estimating that there are more than 100,000 people in the crowd.
“Hearts beating as one, gathered here in Tel Aviv for peace, for unity and for hope in this sacred place we call Hostages Square,” says Witkoff. “I only wish the president was here.”
“We stand here tonight, Jews, Christians, Muslims… United with one shared goal,” he says. “Peace.”
“Tonight we celebrate something extraordinary, a moment that many thought was impossible. Yet here we stand, living proof that when courage meets conviction, miracles can happen. A peace born not out of politics, but out of courage, the courage of those who refuse to give up hope.”
He says he wants “to honor the people of Israel. Your strength, your resilience, your unwavering spirit through unimaginable pain and loss. You have carried the weight of hope on your shoulders for the entire world. You’ve prayed, you’ve persevered, and you’ve shown the world that peace is not weakness. It is the highest form of strength. Through heartbreak and fear, you never let go of the faith. Your courage and endurance inspired the world, and it was your belief, joined with the bold leadership of my friend and President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, that made this piece possible.”
