Benigno Aquino III sinh ngày 8/2/1961, là con trai duy nhất của bà Corazon Aquino, chính trị gia nổi tiếng và là tổng thống thứ 11 tại Philippines.

Ông Aquino tuyên bố ra tranh cử chỉ một tháng sau khi bà Corazon qua đời vì căn bệnh ung thư năm 2009 và trở thành tổng thống thứ 16 của Philippines.

Xuất thân là một nhà kinh tế, khi lên nắm quyền ông Aquino đã phát động một loạt các dự án xây dựng hạ tầng đầy tham vọng, thông qua sáng kiến Quan hệ đối tác Công-tư.

Trong nhiệm kỳ lãnh đạo của ông Aquino, Philippines cũng đã khởi kiện Trung Quốc ra Tòa trọng tài Thường trực (PCA) liên quan đến tranh chấp ở Biển Đông.



Aquino won the election in 2010, ruling until 2016 and is the predecessor of incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte.

Local media reported that Mr. Aquino contracted some illness after 2019 and had just undergone a heart surgery.

Benigno Aquino III was born on February 8, 1961, the only son of Corazon Aquino, a famous politician and the 11th president in the Philippines.

Mr. Aquino announced his candidacy just a month after Corazon died of cancer in 2009 and became the 16th president of the Philippines.

Originally an economist, when he came to power Mr. Aquino launched a series of ambitious infrastructure projects through the Public-Private Partnership initiative.

During Aquino's leadership, the Philippines also filed a lawsuit against China at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) regarding disputes in the South China Sea.
