Lănh đạo đa số Thượng viện Mitch McConnell đă chế nhạo Chủ tịch Nancy Pelosi hôm thứ Năm v́ đă trao những cây bút cho các nhà quản lư luận tội sau khi kư các điều khoản luận tội.

Những chỉ trích của McConnell được đưa ra chỉ vài giờ trước khi Thượng viện chuẩn bị bắt đầu chính thức phiên ṭa luận tội Tổng thống Donald Trump – Đây là phiên ṭa luận tội tổng thống thứ ba trong lịch sử Hoa Kỳ. Phát bút làm kỷ niệm là một sự xuất hiện phổ biến sau khi kư chính thức.

Bà Pelosi đă kư nghị quyết và mỗi văn kiện luận tội với 32 cây bút khác nhau. Các nhà quản lư luận tội đứng xung quanh bà, cùng với chủ tịch của Ủy ban Dịch vụ Tài chính, Ngoại giao, Giám sát, Tài chính và Thuế vụ.

Bà Pelosi đă đưa bút cho các nhà quản lư luận tội và chủ tịch ủy ban chủ chốt sau khi kư các văn kiện.

“Bà Pelosi đă dùng rất nhiều cây bút để kư các điều khoản luận tội để chính thức chuyển đi và kư nghị quyết bổ nhiệm các nhà quản lư luận tội của Hạ viện. Tại sao lại dùng nhiều như vậy? Chúng sẽ được trao tặng cho các thành viên như các quản lư Hạ viện như biểu tượng cho ngày hôm nay”, phóng viên quốc hội của CNN Lauren Fox b́nh luận.

Mitch McConnell nói trên sàn Thượng viện, Không có ǵ là nghiêm túc và việc trao những cây viết làm quà lưu niệm như thể đây là một bản hợp đồng thay v́ quy tŕnh nghiêm túc trong Hiến pháp của chúng ta.

Ông Trump cũng là người hâm mộ những cây bút lưu niệm. Ông đă trao cây bút lưu niệm của riêng ḿnh sau khi kư thỏa thuận thương mại Trung Quốc hôm 15/1.

McConnell cũng nhắc lại những lời chỉ trích của ḿnh rằng Hạ viện đă vội vă trong quá tŕnh luận tội và nói rằng đă đến lúc Thượng viện phải đứng lên

Lănh đạo thiểu số Thượng viện Chuck Schumer bắn trả McConnell v́ chỉ trích Đảng Dân chủ Hạ viện và cho rằng nhà lănh đạo Cộng Ḥa nên tập trung vào các cáo buộc chống lại tổng thống

Hạ viện đă luận tội Trump vào tháng 12 v́ lạm dụng quyền lực bằng cách gây áp lực với Ukraine để điều tra các đối thủ chính trị cũng như sự cản trở của Quốc hội v́ ngăn chặn cuộc điều tra về vụ bê bối.

Vào ngày 15 tháng 1 tại Ṭa nhà Quốc hội, Chủ tịch Hạ viện Nancy Pelosi kư nghị quyết để chuyển hai điều khoản luận tội chống lại Tổng thống Donald Trump tới Thượng viện để xét xử. Hai bài viết luận tội chống lại Trump là lạm dụng quyền lực và cản trở Quốc hội.
