Trong phiên giao dịch ngày 2/4, giá dầu thế giới tăng vọt sau khi Tổng thống Donald Trump cho biết Ả Rập Xê Út và Nga sẽ giảm áp lực đối với sản lượng của loại hàng hoá này, kết thúc cuộc chiến giá dầu khiến dầu thô sụt giá mạnh trong thời gian gần đây.


Hợp đồng đầu WTI tương lai bật tăng 23%, tương đương 4,67 USD, giao dịch quanh mức 24,98 USD/thùng, trên đà ghi nhận phiên tăng giá mạnh nhất từ trước đến nay. Giá dầu thô Brent tăng 15%, tương đương 4,67 USD, lên mức 29,41 USD/thùng.


Mới đây, ông Trump chia sẻ với CNBC rằng ông đă có cuộc tṛ chuyện với Tổng thống Nga Vladimir Putin vào ngày hôm qua và Thái tử Ả Rập vào ngày hôm nay, dự kiến 2 quốc gia này sẽ công bố cắt giảm sản lượng dầu tới 10 triệu thùng và có thể lên đến 15 triệu thùng. Tổng thống Mỹ sau đó đă viết trên Twitter cá nhân rằng việc 2 nước này cắt giảm sản lượng có thể là "điều tuyệt vời đối với ngành dầu khí."

Các nước OPEC dẫn đầu bởi Ả Rập Xê Út hồi tháng trước đề xuất cắt giảm 1,5 triệu thùng dầu/ngày khi nhu cầu đi xuống. Tuy nhiên, nước đồng minh của OPEC – Nga, đă bác bỏ lời đề xuất này, châm ng̣i cho cuộc chiến giá dầu giữa 2 cường quốc sản xuất dầu. Việc cắt giảm sản lượng trước đây đă kết thúc vào ngày 31/3. Hôm thứ Tư, Ả Rập Xê Út đă tăng sản lượng lên 12 tỷ thùng/ngày.


Cú sốc xảy ra với cả phía cung và cầu đă khiến giá dầu sụt giảm mạnh. Hôm 6/3, dầu thô Mỹ giao dịch quanh mức trên 41 USD/thùng. Kể từ đó, giá dầu thô giảm khoảng 1 nửa. Giá dầu thô cũng được thúc đẩy sau khi Bloomberg đưa tin rằng Trung Quốc sẽ bắt đầu mua dầu để dự trữ khẩn cấp.
