Single-day COVID-19 infections hit over 13,000 as nearly 1,670 recover

The Ministry of Health announced the detection of 13,063 new COVID-19 cases on November 27 to bring the national tally since the start of the pandemic up to 1,197,404

Furthermore, an additional 148 casualties were also reported, thereby raising the country’s death toll to 24,692.

Of the new cases, 7,160 were found among the community, whilst 15 were imported.

Ho Chi Minh City once again tops the daily case list with 1,773 new infections, followed by Can Tho with 954 and Binh Duong with 716.

Elsewhere, Hanoi recorded a further 310 new cases, with the pandemic having now spread to most districts of the capital. Indeed, November 26 saw Hanoi report the detection of new locally-transmitted cases in 23 out of 30 districts. From November 27 the capital will begin the process of administering the COVID-19 vaccine to ninth grade children.

As of November 26, a total of more than 48 million of the country’s 96 million population have now been fully vaccinated against the pandemic.

Since the fourth wave of the pandemic hit the nation in late April there have been a total of 1,192,200 local cases recorded.

One day earlier Vietnam received more than 2 million Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine doses donated by the US.

To date, the US has donated more than 18 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX mechanism to assist Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19.
