Arrow Infection tally surges by 401 to 6,580, Hanoi sees growing case numbers

The nation’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 946,043 cases since the start of the pandemic after the Health Ministry confirmed the detection of 6,580 new infections on November 4, while 2,313 patients were also released from hospital.

November 4 saw the number of infection increase by 401 over the previous day, including 2,889 detected among the community.

The three places to record the highest numbers of new cases were Ho Chi Minh City with 981, the southern province of Binh Duong with 948, and Dong Nai province with 939.

Hanoi reported an additional 100 new cases, including 60 community cases and 40 found in isolation and lockdown areas.

Amid growing infection numbers in recent times, Deputy PM Dam, who is also deputy head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, requested that the capital remain flexible and poised for worse numbers, although it should strive to safely adapt to the pandemic.

Hanoi must therefore prepare standard procedures for home quarantine and treatment in case the pandemic spreads on a large scale, he emphasized.

The same day also saw the Ministry announce an additional 59 COVID-19 deaths. The total COVID-19 death toll so far has therefore increased to 22,342, accounting for around 2.4% of all infections.

During the past 24 hours, a further 1,731 patients fully recovered from the disease to raise the overall number of recoveries to 835,406.

By November 4, the country had injected over 84.8 million doses of vaccines, with more than 26 million people now being fully inoculated.

Elsewhere, Hanoi aims to have over 95% of local children aged between 12 and 17 fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

This campaign is poised to be launched in the final quarter of the year under a plan set out by the municipal People’s Committee. Those aged between 16 and 17 will get their shots first, while the younger age groups will be done later.

Meanwhile some provinces and cities, such as Da Nang, Binh Duong, Quang Ninh, Soc Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City has started to inoculate children according to guidance issued by the Health Ministry.
