Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ Donald Trump đă chuẩn y kế hoạch rút 9.500 lính Mỹ từ Đức về nước trước tháng Chín, theo báo chí Mỹ.

Ông Trump từ lâu than trách rằng các thành viên Nato phải bỏ thêm tiền cho quân đội.

Báo chí Mỹ nói ông muốn giữ quân Mỹ ở Đức chỉ khoảng 25.000 lính.

Căng thẳng Mỹ và Nato đă gia tăng dưới thời ông Trump.

Tổng thống Donald Trump cho rằng Nato đừng nên quá phụ thuộc vào Hoa Kỳ.

Báo Wall Street Journal nói hôm thứ Sáu, ông Trump chỉ đạo Lầu Năm Góc rút một phần ba lính Mỹ tại Đức.

Theo tờ báo, Bộ quốc pḥng Mỹ cần chuẩn y kế hoạch trước khi thực hiện.

Nhà Trắng chưa xác nhận tin này.

Tuy vậy, người phát ngôn John Ullyot nói Hoa Kỳ "cam kết hợp tác với đồng minh lớn, Đức" về quốc pḥng.

Năm ngoái, ngân sách quân sự và dân sự của Nato là 1,67 tỉ euro.

Lính Mỹ ở Đức là di sản thời hậu Thế chiến Hai khi quân đồng minh đóng tại Tây Đức.

Tại châu Âu, lính Mỹ đóng ở Đức là nhiều nhất, rồi tới Italy, Anh và Tây Ban Nha.
