Hàng trăm ngàn người dân Mỹ không c̣n được hưởng trợ giúp thực phẩm food stamp, khi chính phủ của Tổng Thống Donald Trump đưa ra một quy định mới về đ̣i hỏi phải làm việc, khiến quy định mới này sẽ giúp chính phủ tiết kiệm được khoảng 5.5 tỉ USD trong năm năm.

Bộ Nông Nghiệp Mỹ nói rằng quy định này ảnh hưởng tới những người lớn trong hạn tuổi từ 18 tới 49, không có con và không bị mất năng lực (non-disabled).

“Chúng ta cần khuyến khích người dân bằng cách đưa tay trợ giúp họ nhưng không để cho điều này trở thành bàn tay trợ giúp vô hạn định,” theo lời Bộ Trưởng Nông Nghiệp Sony Perdue.

“Nay trong thời buổi có nền kinh tế mạnh mẽ nhất từ cả một thế hệ, có rất nhiều công việc đang cần người, chúng ta cần mọi người có thể làm việc, hăy ra đi làm,” ông Perdue nói thêm.

Theo quy định hiện hành, những người lớn có sức khỏe, độc thân, chỉ có thể nhận trợ giúp food stamp, tức là chương tŕnh Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), cho ba tháng trong khoảng thời gian mỗi 36 tháng, trừ khi là họ làm việc hay theo chương tŕnh huấn nghệ ít nhất là 20 giờ một tuần. Các khu vực có t́nh trạng thất nghiệp cao hay không có đủ công việc, có thể xin giấy miễn cho quy định phải đi làm đó.

Trong năm 2018, có khoảng 2.9 triệu người lớn độc thân nhận food stamp, với khoảng 74% trong số này không đi làm, theo Bộ Nông Nghiệp.

Theo quy định mới, việc miễn phải đi làm sẽ khó khăn hơn, siết chặt hơn định nghĩa thế nào là không đủ việc làm và giới hạn thời gian một khu vực có thể được coi là không đủ công việc làm.

Bộ Nông Nghiệp cho giới truyền thông Mỹ hay rằng các điều kiện mới có thể khiến 688,000 người mất trợ giúp SNAP và quy định mới sẽ giúp chính phủ tiết kiệm được khoảng $5.5 tỉ trong năm năm.

Các giới chức Bộ Nông Nghiệp chưa cho biết khi nào quy định mới sẽ bắt đầu có hiệu lực. (V.Giang)

ăn foodstamps không phân biệt cầm chuông hay không cầm chuông.
Bán cà lem lấy tiền mặt vẫn xin foodstamps được.
Luật Mỹ thay đổi thường xuyên, cái vụ này do Bộ nông Nghiệp đề nghị

nhiều nguời nghĩ sai lầm về nguời ăn trợ cấp .. không phải là chính phủ cho trợ cấp rồi ngồi đó ăn không là không đúng . đây chỉ là chính sách tạm thời để giúp cho những nguời không công ăn chuyện làm , nhất là mấy nguời mới qua .. không phải một nguời cứ ngồi đó rồi ăn trợ cấp là không phải .. họ bắt buộc phải đi kiếm việc làm trong thời gian ăn trợ cấp .. tiền trợ cấp cho một nguời đều có giới hạn.

tui nghĩ bác cũng là dân tỵ nạn như tui .. qua rồi th́ cũng có trợ cấp một thời gian rồi kiếm job đi làm để nuôi bọn nhỏ đi học .. tui nói thiệt .. tui qua đây chỉ huởng đuợc có khoăng 3 tháng là đi làm rồi .. mới đầu không có xe th́ lết bộ, đi ké, đi xe đạp, đi xe bus .. giờ có đủ điều kiện cũng lết bằng xe .. hahaha. chứ nói thiệt mấy nguời đi xin trợ cấp bị tụi trắng cũng khinh thuờng lắm, phần mắc công mà không đuợc thoải mái .. thà cái ǵ của chính ḿnh làm ra th́ làm cái ǵ cũng đuợc chứ tui không trốn thuế giống như nhiều nguời .. hahahaha

Nhưng những bạn cuồng ḿnh, v́ sự suy nghĩ có giới hạn. Nên cứ đóng dấu vào trán họ là bọn ăn bám xă hội. Haha...
