Tới trưa ngày 20 tháng 6, Sài Gòn đã được thông báo 1561 người bị nhiễm Covid-19 trong giai đoạn từ ngày 27 tháng 4 tới nay. Bắt nguồn từ người nhập cảnh trái phép, virus lây lan trong các khu công nghiệp sản xuất. Và tới nay virus đã lây lan trong cộng đồng và chưa có dấu hiệu được kiểm soát. Việc lây lan nhanh được cho là nhà nước đã bắt người cách ly tập trung phải trả phí không hề rẻ, khoảng hơn 6,3 triệu đồng cho một lần cách ly bao gồm 21-22 ngày cách ly tập trung trong đó có 5 lần xét nghiệm. Điều này khiến nhiều người giấu bệnh do lo sợ tốn tiền, bị bắt đi cách ly tập trung như "đi tù". Và chỉ bị phát hiện lúc tới bệnh viện hoặc có liên quan tới F0 thì người bệnh đã nhiễm nhiều vòng cho nhiều người.
