Hiện nay việc đấu tranh đ̣i tự do cho Mẹ Nấm đang là mối quan tâm hàng đầu của Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn. Mới đây bà đă chính thức có thư kêu gọi ông Trump cùng lên tiếng phản đối việc bắt Mẹ Nấm. Dưới đây là 1 số điểm đáng chú ư trong lời kêu gọi này của bà. Sau khi lên tiếng và được biết anh William Nguyễn được cộng sản thả về nước Mỹ hôm thứ Sáu, Nghị Sĩ Tiểu Bang Janet Nguyễn đă tiếp tục kêu gọi cho những tù nhân lương tâm đang bị cộng sản Việt Nam giam giữ. Dưới đây là văn thư được gởi từ văn pḥng của Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn ở Garden Grove ngày thứ Bảy, nhằm kêu gọi sự can thiệp cho Mẹ Nấm – Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh, người đă tuyệt thực trong hơn hai tuần qua trong lao tù cộng sản tại tỉnh Thanh Hóa.

Trong tinh thần tiếp tục tranh đấu bảo vệ nhân quyền khắp thế giới, Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn đă tha thiết kêu gọi Tổng Thống Donald Trump tham gia cùng với bà, đ̣i hỏi [nhà cầm quyền Việt Nam] phải lập tức trả tự do cho blogger nhà hoạt động Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh (c̣n được gọi là Mẹ Nấm). Mẹ Nấm, người đồng sáng lập Mạng Lưới Bloggers Việt Nam, hiện đang bị tù giam 10 năm v́ bị kết tội tuyên truyền chống chính quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam, và bà đang tuyệt thực kể từ ngày 6, tháng Bảy.

“Sự tuyệt thực của Mẹ Nấm Nguyễn Ngọc Như Quỳnh là v́ bà quyết tâm tranh đấu và phản đối sự ngược đăi bất công, khủng bố tinh thần ngày càng tồi tệ mà bà đă phải chịu đựng sau nhiều năm bị chính quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam giam giữ,” Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn phát biểu. “Kể từ khi bị giam giữ mà không có giấy trát ṭa vào năm 2016, Mẹ Nấm thường xuyên bị đối xử vô nhân đạo, bị khủng bố tinh thần, và bị cai tù cũng như bạn tù đe dọa tính mạng. Mẹ Nấm bị đàn áp và ngược đăi một cách không công bằng chỉ v́ thực hiện quyền tự do phát biểu. Mẹ Nấm phải được lập tức trả tự do!”

Năm 2016, Mẹ Nấm bị bắt v́ đă can đảm chỉ trích chính quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam trong việc tiếp tay với nhà máy Công Ty Formosa Corp. gây ô nhiểm độc hại Formosa, một sự kiện gây tác hại cá chết hàng loạt dọc bờ biển miền Trung Việt Nam. Sau đó, Mẹ Nấm bị bắt v́ đăng tải các bài viết của bà, và đă bị truy tố theo Điều Luật 88 của Bộ Luật H́nh Sự Việt Nam v́ đă “bóp méo sự thật và tuyên truyền chống nhà nước.”

Năm 2017, Mẹ Nấm bị kết tội trong một phiên ṭa chỉ trong ṿng một ngày mà chính các tổ chức nhân quyền khắp thế giới đă lên tiếng chỉ trích chánh quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam trong việc kết tội Mẹ Nấm.
Kể từ ngày 6, tháng Bảy vừa qua, Mẹ Nấm đă bắt đầu tuyệt thực để phản đối sự ngược đăi, hành hạ, đe dọa tính mạng, và khủng bố tinh thần mà bà đă phải chịu đựng trong hai năm qua. Theo một số báo cáo, Mẹ Nấm sau đó được chuyển sang một pḥng giam khác, tuy nhiên, Mẹ Nấm vẫn tiếp tục tuyệt thực để phản đối việc bà bị nhân viên trại giam hành hạ.

“Tôi hy vọng Tổng Thống Trump khẩn cấp can thiệp theo đề nghị của tôi hầu Mẹ Nấm được trả tự do để đoàn tụ với mẹ già và hai con thơ và nhất là để cứu tính mạng Mẹ Nấm trước t́nh trạng nguy hiểm tánh mạng sau nhiều ngày tuyệt thực,” Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn phát biểu.

Hy vọng là Mỹ có thể can thiệp mạnh hơn nữa, như vụ anh Will Nguyen vừa qua, tuy rằng tôi cũng 0 thể biết là hai nước đă thỏa thuận ngầm ǵ với nhau, chứ nếu đổi 1 người tranh đấu cho Tự Do & Nhân Quyền ở VN để lấy vài khẩu súng lựu hơi cay để đàn áp người biểu t́nh mạnh hơn nữa th́ coi chừng đa ! Hoặc là nhận Mẹ Nấm để rồi câm luôn, 0 phản đối hoặc chỉ trích CSVN nữa ??? Cái nào cũng có cái giá của nó hết phải 0..

đưa thằng bom beo qua rồi giúi cho mỗi thằng việt cộng một mớ vài trăm triệu tiền hồ th́ ngày mai sẽ có tin "Mẹ Nấm đă bị việt cộng trục xuất ra khỏi xứ việt cộng" cho coi

Yêu cầu Nghị Sĩ Janet Nguyễn mở (initiate) trang thỉnh nguyện thư "We The People" và yêu cầu Nhà Trắng (The White House) can thiệp cũng như giải cứu Me Nấm từ nhà nước bạo tàn ác độc cộng săn VN.
