Trận đánh tết mậu thân năm 1968 đă đứng thứ 8 trong danh sách những trận đánh lịch sử của thế giới. Dưới sự chỉ huy của tổng thống Nguyễn Văn Thiệu, hơn 100 ngàn quân Việt Cộng đă bị tiêu diệt. Quân VC hoạch định một trận đánh gây tiếng vang lớn "Một cú đập lớn để tung toé ra các khả năng chính trị" (như lời của Tổng bí thư VC Lê Duẩn nói). Hơn 100 ngàn quân "giải phóng" đă được điều động cùng với hàng trăm ngàn quân hỗ trợ hậu cần tổ chức tấn công vào tết 1968. Từ đầu tháng 12/1967, Tổng thống Johnson đă được báo cáo đầy đủ về các chuyển động quân sự của Hà Nội, ngày 21/12/1967 Hoa Kỳ đă biết rơ giờ giấc cuộc tấn công của Việt Cộng nhưng phía chính phủ Mỹ vẫn im lặng. Dân chúng và cả các lực lượng hành chánh lẫn quân sự VNCH ít ai tin rằng VC dám ngang nhiên vi phạm lệnh hưu chiến trong 3 ngày Tết mà họ đă công khai cam kết. Tuy nhiên với sức mạnh và ḷng dũng cảm của quân lực VNCH hơn 100 ngàn quân Cộng Sản đă bị tiêu diệt hoàn toàn. Ngày nay tất cả mọi người đều biết rơ ràng trận Mậu Thân, Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ Johnson và ngoại trưởng Kissinger chịu trách nhiệm gây tử vong cho hằng trăm ngàn người dân Việt Nam vô tội có thể tránh khỏi nếu được báo trước sự thật.





1968 - TT Thiệu thăm một trại tạm cư của đồng bào


Trong kỳ Mậu Thân 1968, một trong những vùng bị tàn phá nhiều nhất là Chợ Lớn, một khu vực sinh sống rất đông đảo của Hoa Kiều tại Việt Nam. Trong cuộc tổng tấn công này, các toán quân Việt Cộng đă xâm nhập khu Chợ Lớn để giết dân, phóng hỏa, và tạo nên một sự náo loạn kinh khiếp trong đô thành.

Một tên lính đặc công VC trần như nhộng sau khi vứt tất cả vũ khí và quân phục để lẫn trốn trong khu nhà ở Chợ lớn nhưng cuối cùng đă bị tóm sống


Người dân dừng xe lại nh́n ngôi nhà to trong khu phố giờ đă là đống đổ nát

"Quân sử" th́ có lọt vào thiệt chứ không phải là không... Mà lọt vào cái category "lănh đạo" 1 "quốc gia" đầu tiên sản xuất hàng loạt "naked losers" vô tiền khoáng hậu....
