Theo các thông tin được đưa trong nước Việt nam.Hồ Chí Minh được UNESCO thế giới công nhận danh nhân văn hoá.Vậy thực hự về danh hiệu này là như thế nào?

-Có nhiều thông tin trong nước cho là UNESCO đã tôn vinh Hồ Chí Minh với danh hiệu "danh nhân văn hóa," dựa trên hồ sơ Khóa họp Đại hội đồng lần thứ 24 tại Paris (20/10 - 20/11/1987).

Trên thực tế, UNESCO không có danh hiệu này. Trong Khóa họp Đại hội đồng lần thứ 24, Việt Nam là một nước thành viên đã đề cử ngày sinh lần thứ 100 của Hồ Chí Minh (tiểu mục 18.65, mục 18.6 trong hồ sơ) để đưa vào lịch kỷ niệm 1990 - 1991 của UNESCO. Toàn bộ mục 18.6 cần được hiểu là: UNESCO kêu gọi các nước thành viên đề cử ngày sinh của các nhân vật có ảnh hưởng lớn để đưa vào lịch kỷ niệm in 2 năm một lần; UNESCO sẽ tổ chức lễ kỷ niệm dựa trên lịch này, và kêu gọi các nước thành viên tham gia; như đã được giải thích tại tiểu mục 18.61, dựa theo điều 4.351, Khóa họp Đại hội đồng lần thứ 18 tại Paris (17/10 - 23/11/1974).

Văn bản trong mục 18.6 được trích từ văn bản đề cử của các nước thành viên, nguyên văn "danh nhân văn hóa" (Hero of national liberation and Great man of culture) là nội dung Việt Nam đã đề cử.

Tuy nhiên, do sự phản đối của một số người Việt tị nạn và người Pháp tại thủ đô Paris, UNESCO đã không đưa ngày sinh Hồ Chí Minh vào lịch kỷ niệm in năm 1990,và cũng không đứng ra tổ chức lễ kỷ niệm 100 năm ngày sinh Hồ Chí Minh mà để chính phủ Việt Nam tự tổ chức nhưng không được lấy danh nghĩa UNESCO.
