VBF-Mới đây HH Việt Nam là Nguyễn Lệ Nam Em đă buộc phải dừng chân ở top 8 ở ṿng thi ứng xử. Sự cố xảy ra ngay sau khi MC chương tŕnh đọc phần câu hỏi cho cô nhưng v́ không giỏi tiếng Anh nên giữa cô và thông dịch viên không có sự ăn ư. Thiết nghĩ dù Nguyễn Lệ Nam Em có thể hiện tốt ở phần thi này th́ cũng sẽ không thể đoạt thứ hạng cao v́ họ không thể chọn 1 người dốt tiếng Anh.



Lần đầu tiên tại cuộc thi Miss Earth - Hoa hậu Trái đất, đại diện Việt Nam - Nam Em lọt vào top 8 và được thi ứng xử.
Tuy nhiên may mắn lại không mỉm cười với Nguyễn Lệ Nam Em ở phút chót. Lựa chọn tiếng mẹ đẻ để trả lời, Nam Em phải cần tới một thông dịch viên hỗ trợ.
Vậy mà với câu hỏi rất ngắn bằng tiếng Anh là: "#Empower to make a change" nhưng thông dịch viên đă tỏ ra mất b́nh tĩnh.
Anh yêu cầu Nam Em đọc lại câu hỏi đến tận 2 lần nhưng khi dịch vẫn bập bẹ không rơ nghĩa.
"Cảm thấy… là có khả năng… là được… Có khả năng để tạo ra một sự thay đổi cho thế giới...", thông dịch viên chuyển đổi ngôn ngữ một cách run rẩy.

Trước t́nh huống này may thay Nam Em vẫn tỏ ra rất tự tin dù bên dưới khán giả la ó khá lớn. Cô trả lời ngắn gọn: "Với tôi, khả năng tạo ra sự thay đổi là sự nỗ lực hết ḿnh và luôn tin tưởng vào bản thân và tin vào những ǵ ḿnh sẽ làm và sẽ đạt được".
Dù cố gắng hết sức nhưng với sự cố này, Nam Em đă phải dừng bước ở vị trí top 8. Chắc chắn với kết quả này bản thân Nam Em cũng rất buồn và tiếc nuối.
Ấy vậy mà trên mạng xă hội nhiều khán giả không hề động viên Nam Em mà lại quay sang chê bai cô kém tiếng Anh nên mất cơ hội tiến gần hơn tới vương miện Miss Earth.
"Khả năng tiếng Anh như vậy làm sao có thể lọt vào top 4, tiếc quá Nam Em ơi"; "Dù có thông dịch viên hay không ḿnh nghĩ Nam Em vẫn rớt, thi Miss Earth mà không biết không hiểu tiếng Anh th́ sao đậu nổi"... là một trong những b́nh luận chỉ trích Nam Em.
Tuy nhiên vẫn có một bộ phận khán giả cảm thông và lên tiếng thanh minh dùm Nam Em. Thậm chí có người c̣n khẳng định, lỗi Nam Em không thể vào top 4 hoàn toàn là do thông dịch viên kém chuyên nghiệp.
"Nam Em không hề lúng túng. Lúng túng là người phiên dịch cho Nam Em. Thật không hiểu phiên dịch viên kiểu ǵ mà mất 3 phút mới dịch được 3 chữ: "Empower the change".
Rất may là ngay khi phiên dịch nói xong th́ Nam Em đă trả lời ngay và rất trôi chảy, tự tin. Tuy nhiên, phiên dịch viên lúc dịch lại th́ lại ấp a ấp úng. Nếu Nam Em bị loại th́ một phần lỗi lớn là do phiên dịch viên.
Top 8 có đến 5 thí sinh phải cần đến phiên dịch viên nhưng không ai như phiên dịch viên Việt Nam cả. Nói đi cũng phải nói lại, nếu Nam Em có sự đầu tư về tiếng Anh th́ khả năng sẽ tiến xa hơn nhiều.
Dù sao cũng rất tự hào v́ Nam Em là đại diện duy nhất của châu Á", một độc giả rất có tâm khi nhận xét về phần ứng xử của Nam Em.

Miss Universe của ban tổ chức ở Cali, thành ra, người có văn hóa mỷ sẻ lợi.
Đêm câu nầy ra hỏi người á hay phi th́ câu trả lời chưa chắc đả hạp tai với giám khảo. Xài tiếng anh hay không th́ không thành vấn đề, v́ bà con có thông dịch viên.

Ở âu, thi miss không được lên bàn bi da hay dao kéo, phải để tự nhiên. Mấy cô nầy đi tham dự miss Universe là bị loại hết v́ có khuyết điểm.

Ở Venezuela, mấy em lên bàn bi da để sửa hết từ trên xuống dưới

ḿnh không nỡ coi hết video v́ tội nghiệp cô đó nên không biết thông dịch viên dịch ra sao

động từ "to empower" có nghỉa là tạo đông lực, cổ động cho chính ḿnh hoặc cho ai đó

"to make a change" = làm một sự thay đổi (như thay đổi quan niệm, cách sống - của chính bản thân ḿnh hay của ai đó vv)

Ư riêng của "empower" và "make a change" chung chung là như vậy, c̣n context rỏ hơn th́ phải nghe nguyên câu hỏi trước đó mới biết được; ḿnh cũng không rành tiếng Việt lắm, nên nhiều khi nghe tiếng Anh th́ hiểu nhưng dịch ra tiếng Viêt có thể không được lưu loát cho lắm hihihi, thông cảm nha hihihi

hmm, trước và sau cũng không khác mấy, chỉ thấy vi déo sau th́ make up đậm hơn và sắc sảo hơn, mặt gầy hơn? c̣n trái cây có thể upgrade từ cam sành ra bưởi? hahahha không chắc, nhưng cả 2 vi déo nào, cô cũng rất đẹp!

Em rút thăm trên giấy chỉ có một câu đó thôi.

Vấn đề chánh là context #empower v́ trên twitter ai củng xài nhưng muốn nói cái chi ?

Ai không bắn "chim xanh" th́ không thể nào hiểu/đoán cái term nầy, khác xa với nghỉa của tự điển

oh, ḿnh không có xài twitter nên không biết họ nói với ư ǵ, nhưng những thí dụ về cách dùng chữ empower là:

1/ cha mẹ nên empower con cái quan niệm sống tự lập thay v́ ỹ lại

2/ trong chổ làm, những người xếp empower những người dưới ḿnh nên mạnh dạn phát biểu ư kiến của ḿnh, cho dù là ư kiến trái chiều

3/ những người phụ nữ phương Tây cảm thấy empowered khi ra ngoài đời v́ họ có sự tự tin hơn nhưng nước phong kiến

Đó, chữ empower khi dùng là như vậy, th́ bạn nghỉ tiếng Việt nên dùng chử nào cho chính xác đúng nghỉa? Ḿnh không biết, nhưng ư của nó là vậy đó

Đây là lỗi của thông dịch viên mà ...

Tác giả bài này quên cho ACE biết là Nam Em đă xuất sắc giành được nhiều giải thưởng phụ tại Miss Earth 2016 (HH Hoàn Vũ 2016) như giải nh́ Hoa hậu tài năng & Trang phục dạ hội và giải nhất Hoa hậu Ảnh, Top 3 Dự án môi trường xuất sắc.
Có chê th́ cũng làm ơn khen người ta cho công bằng một tí !

em không nghỉ như vậy đâu anh, v́ empower là động từ (verb) mà anh - mạnh dạn và cương quyết là tĩnh từ (adjective)

như "tôi cương quyết sẽ thay đổi" = I am sure/determined to change

edit: c̣n chử empower, khi ḿnh empower (aka give the power) ai đó th́ ḿnh thúc đẩy/tạo/cho năng lực/động lực cho ai đó, như nền giáo dục bên Mỹ empower học sinh có cách suy luận bẳng chính ḿnh chứ không phải chỉ học thuộc ḷng như con vẹt, đó là một thí dụ điển h́nh

Besides bàn về chữ dốt dùng đúng hay sai, tôi cảm thấy tội nghiệp cho em này; nếu ḿnh yếu về mặt ngoại ngữ, không nên lên chương tŕnh có tầm international (không biết chử Việt - quôc tế?) để ḿnh có thể bị xấu hổ trước đám đông. Cũng như đi t́m job, không nên quá phô trương những ǵ ḿnh biết trên resume, để khi mà được nhận th́ bối rối làm không được và c̣n mang nhục vào ḿnh.
