Ca sĩ hải ngoại Thu Phương về nước hát trong trang phục mang h́nh cờ đỏ sao vàng, nhiều người lên tiếng phản đối, quản lư Dũng Taylor nói ǵ: “Đối với người trong nước, Thu Phương vừa hợp t́nh vừa hợp lư, nhưng với người hải ngoại Thu Phương thuận lư, mà chưa thuận t́nh.”

May be because I am not "con lai"; that's why I can't fully empathize the pain and emotional scar that they had to go through in childhood.

Being "con lai" is NOT a crime. No one can pick and choose who their birth parents are. This is one of the things I don't like about many Vietnamese people's ways - very bigoted and close-minded unfairly. Luckily, I left VN at a relatively early age, so that kind of close-mindedness didn't stick into my thinking and viewing of the world

Thật ra tụi Mỹ cũng không công bằng với những người con lai. Nếu đă là con lai biết gen và lại lịch người cha th́ phải cho họ quốc tịch. Nhưng không, họ bắt phải thi quốc tịch. V́ sinh ra trong môi trường không tốt và không được ăn học biết chữ, thành ra họ không thể có quốc tịch, đồng thời cũng có nghĩa quyền lợi cũng bị giới hạn. Đă lâu nhiều người kêu gọi để giải quyết vấn đề này, bây giờ không biết đă đi tới đâu?

Culture "chế độ phong kiến" in Vietnam about this very cruelty; especially country side even worse. I am talking about 1980s and before.

if any one has black/white skin and said my father is American????Just close the loophole it is a law. Furthermore, If he/she couldn't learn and pass the test, that person has to rethink again; my mom passed the naturalized citizen test when she was 65 years old, and she did not know English at all.

he is "con lai mỹ đen" which was very harsh for him when he was a child to live in Vietnam at the time.
May be because I am not "con lai"; that's why I can't fully empathize the pain and emotional scar that they had to go through in childhood.

Being "con lai" is NOT a crime. No one can pick and choose who their birth parents are. This is one of the things I don't like about many Vietnamese people's ways - very bigoted and close-minded unfairly. Luckily, I left VN at a relatively early age, so that kind of close-mindedness didn't stick into my thinking and viewing of the world

Tuy nhiên có nhiều cái quan niệm của người Á châu ḿnh tôi thấy quan trọng và cần noi theo, thí dụ như kính trọng người lớn hơn ḿnh, cha mẹ, etc.... Nhưng không có nghĩa là tôi mù quáng tin người lớn lúc nào củng đúng.

Nếu ai hỏi taị sao tôi pick and choose which Asian values to keep, tôi chịu thua không trả lời được hahaha.

Như bạn nói tại culture ḿnh như vậy,ḿnh làm ǵ được. Đúng là ḿnh không thay đổi được cả culture, nhưng ḿnh có thể bắt đầu từ chính ḿnh. Cũng như conversation giữa bạn và tôi, biết đâu được có người đọc họ sẻ thay đổi quan niệm khắc khe của họ trước đây toward những người con lai (hopefully). Thật ra bên VN lúc trước tôi chưa hề gặp một người con lai nào trong xóm nên tôi không biết họ bị đối xử ra sao. Nhưng sau naỳ ở Mỹ nghe kể laị, tôi thấy rất khó chịu và tội nghiệp cho họ
