ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (NV) - Lần đầu trong lịch sử Hoa Kỳ, số sĩ quan Hải Quân Mỹ gốc Việt khóa 2015, tốt nghiệp đông nhất, tám người, và ra trường vào lúc 10 giờ sáng hôm nay, Thứ Sáu, 22 Tháng Năm, tại sân vận động Navy-Marine Corps Memorial của Học Viện Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ ở Annapolis, Maryland.

Theo cựu Trung Tá Ross Nguyễn, chủ tịch Hội Quân Nhân Mỹ Gốc Việt (VAUSA), danh sách các tân thiếu úy hải quân Mỹ gốc Việt và (nguyên quán), gồm có Heather Bùi (San Diego, CA), Tina Kiều (Garden Grove, CA), Brandon Trần (Montebello, CA), Ryan Trần (Quartz Hill, CA), Andrew Trương (Marriottsville, MD), Ryan Lê (High Point, NC), Jake Ðặng (Annandale, VA), và Amanda Thạch (Seattle, WA).

“Cứ mỗi lễ ra trường của học viện, thành phố Annapolis tưng bừng cả tuần lễ trước. Giây phút mở đầu chương trình mãn khóa dự trù sẽ rất ngoạn mục với màn biểu diễn của đội phản lực cơ Navy Blue Angels, xuất xứ từ năm 1946, tính đến nay đã thu hút 463 triệu khán giả,” Trung Tá Hải Quân Tuấn Nguyễn, giám đốc điều hành hội VAUSA, cho nhật báo Người Việt biết.
Nói về kinh nghiệm gặp gỡ các sinh viên sĩ quan gốc Việt khi còn trong thời gian huấn luyện, Trung Tá Tuấn nhận xét: “Các em có thiện cảm khi thấy tôi mặc quân phục hải quân nên không ngần ngại tâm sự khi được chúng tôi mời sinh hoạt chung. Các em còn rất trẻ, thuộc thế hệ thứ ba, rất dễ thương và lý tưởng. Ða số các sinh viên là cháu của các cựu quân nhân QLVNCH.”

Ðể bày tỏ sự ủng hộ, vị trung tá gốc Việt cho biết thêm: “Chúng tôi có xin được 50 vé để các bác, các chú trong cộng đồng người Việt có thể tham dự vào ngày mãn khóa. Ai cũng vui và nô nức đón chờ nhìn các con cháu tung nón, làm rạng danh nòi giống.”

Ông cho biết, ông Ðoàn Hữu Ðịnh, chủ tịch cộng đồng Việt Nam vùng Washington, DC, Virginia, và Maryland, cũng sẽ tham dự lễ tốt nghiệp của các tân sĩ quan.

Muốn được nhận làm sinh viên sĩ quan, ứng viên phải là công dân Mỹ, ít nhất 17 tuổi và không quá 23 tuổi tính đến ngày 1 Tháng Bảy năm nhập trường; phải có giấy giới thiệu chính thức, thường từ một dân biểu, hai thượng nghị sĩ của Quốc Hội Hoa Kỳ và phó tổng thống Hoa Kỳ. Không cần quen biết nhưng được chọn theo thành tích cá nhân.

Mỗi khóa có khoảng trên 2,000 sinh viên sĩ quan cho hai ngành Hải Quân hay Thủy Quân Lục Chiến.

Chương trình học bốn năm, ngoài thuật lãnh đạo chỉ huy, sinh viên sĩ quan được đào tạo các ngành học chính như kỹ sư, khoa học tự nhiên, nhân văn, và xã hội học, giống như tại các trường đại học dân sự hàng đầu.

Sinh viên cũng được học những kỹ năng chuyên môn cần thiết cho một sĩ quan Hải Quân hay Thủy Quân Lục Chiến, và có những lớp cao cấp chuẩn bị cho sinh viên chương trình cao học. Khi tốt nghiệp sinh viên được cấp văn bằng cử nhân và mang cấp bậc thiếu úy.

Hải Quân đài thọ 100% học phí và sinh viên sĩ quan được trả mỗi tháng $920.49, và trừ từ lương, các phí tổn, như hớt tóc, giặt quần áo, lệ phí sách lưu niệm, và các hoạt động khác trong thời gian huấn luyện. Tiền mặt thật sự một sinh viên sĩ quan năm thứ nhất nhận được là $100/tháng và tăng dần trong những năm sau.

Ban đầu, học viện được gọi là Trường Hải Quân, do ông George Bancroft, bộ trưởng Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ, thành lập năm 1845 tại Fort Severn, Annapolis. Chỉ huy trưởng đầu tiên là ông Franklin Buchanan với ban giảng huấn gồm bốn sĩ quan và ba giảng viên dân chính. Số sinh viên theo học chỉ có 50 người. Chương trình học kéo dài năm năm, với năm đầu và năm cuối học tại Annapolis, ba năm thực tập hải hành.

Năm 1850 Trường Hải Quân trở thành Học Viện Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ. Một năm sau, học viện chuyển sang chương trình đào tạo bốn năm như hiện nay tại Annapolis, với chương trình thực tập hải hành vào các mùa hè của khóa học.

Học Viện Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ được tạp chí U.S. News & World Report xếp hạng trường công số một trong ba năm liền, và từng đào tạo những lãnh đạo nổi tiếng, gồm một tổng thống Hoa Kỳ, 16 đại sứ, 24 dân cử Quốc Hội Hoa Kỳ, năm thống đốc tiểu bang, năm bộ trưởng hải quân, một bộ trưởng không quân, năm tổng tham mưu trưởng, 52 phi hành gia, hai người được giải Nobel, và nhiều học giả các ngành khác, trong đó có những tên tuổi quen thuộc như Tổng Thống Jimmy Carter, Tướng Charles Bolden, Thượng Nghị Sĩ John McCain, Tư Lệnh Hạm Ðội Chester W. Nimitz, ông H. Ross Perot, v.v...

Chỉ huy trưởng hiện tại của trung đoàn sinh viên sĩ quan ngành hải quân là Ðại Tá William D. Byrne, Jr. và chỉ huy phó ngành thủy quân lục chiến là nữ Ðại Tá Bobbi Shea.

Học Viện Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ tọa lạc tại số 121 Blake Road, Annapolis, MD 21402.

Cái thằng/con văn nô VC đúng là óc heo nên nó viết title bài này "bất ngờ?", bên Mỹ học đầy đủ thời gian, đủ điểm thì ra trường thôi.. Lũ VC đúng là khỉ Trường Sơn đầy cứt heo trong óc chúng nó!
