Có luồng thông tin trái chiều cho rằng tổng thống Donald Trump đă trao đổi với Ngoại trưởng Nga về vụ sa thải giám đốc FBI. Chính ngoại trưởng Nga đă lên tiếng bác bỏ thông tin này. Trong cuộc họp tại Nhà Trắng mới đây, tổng thống Mỹ không hề đề cập đến vụ sa thải ông James Corney với Ngoại trưởng Nga.

"Chúng tôi không hề đề cập đến vấn đề này", Ngoại trưởng Nga Sergey Lavrov ngày 20/5 nói với các phóng viên ở Nicosia, thủ đô Cyprus, theo RT.

Ngoại trưởng Nga gặp Tổng thống Mỹ tại Pḥng bầu dục vào ngày 10/5. Một ngày trước cuộc họp, ông Trump sa thải giám đốc FBI James Comey.

New York Times ngày 19/5 dẫn lời một quan chức giấu tên nói rằng Trump đă khoe việc sa thải Comey khi ông nói chuyện với các quan chức Nga.

Vài ngày sau cuộc họp của Trump và Lavrov, Washington Post cũng đăng một bài báo nói rằng Trump đă tiết lộ thông tin mật cho các quan chức Nga. Cả Nhà Trắng và Điện Kremlin đều bác bỏ điều này.

Giám đốc FBI Comey bất ngờ bị Tổng thống Trump sa thải hôm 9/5, khi đang dẫn dắt cuộc điều tra cáo buộc Nga can dự bầu cử Mỹ và chiến dịch tranh cử của Trump câu kết với Moscow.

Bộ Tư pháp Mỹ ngày 17/5 chọn Robert Mueller, cựu giám đốc FBI, làm công tố viên đặc biệt để lănh đạo cuộc điều tra này. Ông Comey đă đồng ư điều trần công khai trước Ủy ban T́nh báo Thượng viện Mỹ về vai tṛ của ḿnh trong cuộc điều tra. Phiên điều trần có thể diễn ra sau ngày 29/5.
