Vô cùng thương tiếc ông, NSUT, Đạo diễn Đoàn Bá là một “cây đại thụ” của làng sân khấu cải lươngViệt Nam. Rất nhiều nghệ sĩ – đạo diễn lừng danh hiện nay từng là học tṛ của đạo diễn Đoàn Bá, hiện vẫn tôn kính gọi ông là “thầy”. Ông đă qua đời đột ngột tại Califonia (Mỹ), hưởng thọ 78 tuổi. Ông ra đi khi những dự án c̣n dang dở...

NSƯT Đoàn Bá sinh ngày 22/12/1938, tên thật là Đoàn Bá, quê ở tỉnh Sóc Trăng. Tuổi thơ của ông trải qua những tháng ngày cơ cực, mất mát khi mồ côi mẹ từ năm lên 6 tuổi.

Năm 1947, ông theo cha đi theo tiếng gọi của cách mạng, vào tận trong vùng địch càn quét, chứng kiến tận mất cảnh xác người chất thành đống. Sau kháng chiến, ông tập kết ra Bắc, được đưa sang Liên Xô học về sân khấu. Sau năm 1975, ông về nhà hát cải lương Trần Hữu Trang làm việc. Ông từng giữ chức giám đốc nhà hát cải lương Trần Hữu Trang và là một trong những đạo diễn cải lương nổi tiếng nhất.

Khi rời nhà hát, Đoàn Bá lại dàn dựng kịch, phả vào những vở kịch phong cách vừa trữ t́nh lăng mạn, vừa hào sảng bay bổng của sân khấu cải lương Nam bộ. Ông nổi tiếng với các vở diễn như: Rạng ngọc Côn Sơn, Nàng Xê Đa, T́nh yêu và lời đáp, Nắng sớm mưa chiều, Khúc Nguyệt Cầm, T́nh yêu và tướng cướp, Nước mắt nàng Isuzu, Đường bay, Thời con gái đă xa, Chuyện t́nh ở Ilêkcut, Mướn chồng, Phận làm gái, Lặng lẽ khóc cười, Sự thật không cần nói...

Năm 2005, Nhà hát Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh từng tổ chức chương tŕnh “Những cánh chim không mỏi” nhằm ghi nhận những cống hiện nghệ thuật của NSƯT – Đạo diễn Đoàn Bá với gần 40 nghệ sĩ lớn nhỏ trong nước tham dự.

Mới đây nhất, ông c̣n lên kế hoạch thực hiện một dự án nhạc kịch đánh dấu sự trở lại với kinh phí 10 tỷ đồng. Vở nhạc kịch dự kiến sẽ ra mắt với khán giả Việt Nam vào dịp Tết 2017.

Thế nhưng dự định chưa kịp hoàn thành th́ NSƯT Đoàn Bá đă qua đời vào 3 giờ 55 phút ngày 22/8 (theo giờ Việt Nam) tại bang California (Mỹ), hưởng thọ 78 tuổi.

Ở bên kia th́ chết phải quấn chiếu rồi nữa đêm mang vứt ra đường. Qua Mỹ th́ ít ra cũng nếm được mùi bơ sữa, nếu có bị vứt xuống sông cũng măn nguyện mà . Phục vụ cho đảng chó má bao nhiêu năm giờ được chúng xem như chó già. C̣n ở bên kia để ôm nỗi oán hận mà chết hay sao?
