VBF-Vừa qua ở San Jose đă bị trận lụt khủng khiếp. 400 người nơi đây gặp hoàn cảnh khó khăn sau lũ lụt. 80% lại là người Việt, trước đó chủ hăng Lee Sandwiches cũng đă để các thùng quyên góp, nhưng Hoàng Kiều muốn tặng cho lẹ.

SAN JOSE, California (NV) – Tỷ phú Hoàng Kiều vừa kư một chi phiếu $5 triệu cho thành phố San Jose để giúp cư dân San Jose bị lụt, tại cuộc họp báo ở History Park trên đường Phelan, lúc 2 giờ chiều Thứ Tư, 1 Tháng Ba.

Nghị Viên Tâm Nguyễn, đại diện Khu Vực 7, nơi bị lụt nặng nhất, và cũng là nơi có nhiều người Việt nhất, nói với nhật báo Người Việt: “Tôi rất xúc động trước tấm ḷng của ông Hoàng Kiều, và rất hănh diện có một người Việt Nam nghĩ đến đồng bào ḿnh trong lúc hoạn nạn.”

Về nguyên nhân ông Hoàng Kiều hiến tặng số tiền này, ông Tâm kể: “Ban đầu, tôi nhờ anh Lê Văn Chiêu, chủ nhân hệ thống bánh ḿ Lee Sandwiches, giúp. Anh Chiêu có 61 tiệm khắp Hoa Kỳ. Thế là anh để hộp quyên tiền ở 61 tiệm này, và hứa nếu xin được bao nhiêu, anh sẽ tặng số tiền tương đương, gọi là ‘matching.’”

“Thế rồi, anh Chiêu gọi cho ông Hoàng Kiều và kể câu chuyện bà con ḿnh bị lụt và khó khăn ra sao, cũng như chuyện Lee Sandwiches gây quỹ. Ông Kiều bèn nói, làm vậy lâu quá, thôi để ông tặng tiền luôn cho lẹ, trong khi ông Chiêu vẫn tiếp tục gây quỹ. Sự thể là như thế,” Nghị Viên Tâm Nguyễn nói tiếp.

Một đoạn video do phóng viên Ramona Giwargis của nhật báo The San Jose Mercury gởi ra qua Twitter cho thấy, tại buổi họp báo, ông Hoàng Kiều trao tấm chi phiếu cho Thị Trưởng Sam Liccardo trước sự chứng kiến của Nghị Viên Tâm Nguyễn, giới truyền thông, và một số đồng hương Việt Nam, và nói: “Thưa ông thị trưởng, xin cảm ơn ông. Bây giờ là công việc của ông.”

“Chúng tôi sẽ không làm mất tấm chi phiếu này,” ông Liccardo nói một cách khôi hài.

Ông Tâm cho biết, hiện có khoảng 400 người gặp khó khăn, mà trong đó, 80% là người Việt Nam.

Ông cũng cho biết, trước mắt, thành phố sẽ dùng số tiền này để giúp nhà ở và phương tiện đi lại cho những người bị ảnh hưởng.

“Phải nói rằng, thành phố có trách nhiệm lớn trong chuyện lụt này, đáng lẽ phải ngăn chặn trước. Khi chuyện xảy ra, mới thấy nhiều đồng hương ḿnh c̣n nghèo. Tuy nhiên, qua việc này, chúng ta mới thấy người Việt Nam ḿnh thương yêu nhau, nhất là qua hành động của ông Hoàng Kiều, làm cho người Mỹ rất nể,” Nghị Viên Tâm Nguyễn nói.

Thật ra giúp ai cũng được hết v́ người nào cũng là người, chỉ đừng nên tạo cơ hội cho những tên thừa nước đục thả câu ăn chận.

Hơn nữa tiền người ta mà bạn đ̣i hỏi họ giúp theo ư ḿnh sao được? Bạn đă có bỏ bao nhiêu đồng tiền Hồ để giúp dân lũ lụt miền Trung chưa?

Trùi, koorlie làm khó anh Chiêu hoài hihi. Cho dù không match 5 triệu này nhưng match những donations khác cũng là ok, in my book. Every little bit helps.
