I sense sarcasm in your words. It's alright, though.
I don't say/do things about this issue to get the compliments (from you or anyone) and whatnot.
I say/do them because I am an immigrant of this country and I am grateful for that. Hope you do the same and don't tread on (step on, walk on) unfortunate people while they're already down.
